Request an Elder

The role of the Elder is to be a spiritual example and shepherd of the people of God.

What is the Function of an Elder?

1 Peter 5:1-10 tells us that each Elder, working under the supervision and authority of the Pastor, must first be a care giver to the people of God's Church at Twin Rivers. An Elder is a SHEPHERD.

How does an Elder serve as a shepherd?

Each Elder takes responsibility for approximately 25 families to watch over and care for. The Elder may phone you, talk with you at church, pray with you or drop you a note just to see how you are doing. Those under the care of an Elder may get together for a fellowship a few times a year and a phone tree may be activated for notifying you of critical church information. Overall, the TRWC Elder assists the Pastor in caring for the people of the church.

Why should I be under the care of an Elder?

An Elder is your personal representative for anything you need in the church. They help a large church like TRWC have a small church feel. The Elders are well informed and can help you in most areas of interest. The TRWC Elders are on the front lines of pastoral care. They are on call to pray for you, visit you, encourage you or assist you with biblical counsel. The Elders pray for the sick and serve at the altar during the worship services and are available to you in a crisis. Elders assist with funerals, weddings, baptisms, baby dedications and all sacraments of the church. The Elders can direct you to resources for counseling as well as other ministries in the church such as benevolence or prayer ministries.

How can I receive the care of an Elder?
